Happy is she who believed the Lord would fulfill His promises to her.  Luke 1:45

On January 17, 2024, at the age of 94, Unorna Houston Lee earned God’s greatest reward of hearing, “Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things; I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.” Matthew 25:21

Unorna Houston Lee was born on February 15, 1929, in Bell County, Texas to Gus Houston and Unorna McLemore Houston. She was added to the 10th & M Church of Christ in Temple, Texas, where she was baptized at an early age. Unorna was an active church member and participated in the Ladies’ Bible Class, culinary ministry, supported Southwestern Christian College, and attended various church fellowships. Later, she united with the Ave G Church of Christ and remained active until her health declined.

Unorna received her formal education from Temple Independent School District, where she attended Dunbar High School. She served on the Dunbar High School PTA. She instilled in her descendants the importance of obtaining a formal and spiritual education.

She united with Raymond Clarence Lee, Sr. and nurtured their family of three children, Willie Earl, Raymond Jr, and Brenda Joyce.

Unorna retired from Scott and White Memorial Hospital after serving there for 22 years. During her tenure, she touched many lives with her compassionate heart and winning smile, inspiring and encouraging her colleagues. After her retirement, she devoted her time to her hobbies, including keeping her aquarium, gardening, traveling, and preparing delicious meals for her family. She often shared her culinary expertise with family and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gus Houston and Unorna McLemore Hyder; husband Raymond Clarence Lee Sr, son Raymond Clarence Lee, Jr, sister Willie Delores Pinkney, and brother Willie Duncan.

Those who remain to cherish her precious memories of faith and family include her son Willie Earl Robertson (Lucille), daughter Brenda Joyce Lee, daughter-in-law Jacqueline Lee, granddaughters Gay Dawn Justice (Jermaine), Dedra Raynell Lee, PhD (Marius), grandson Raymond Clarence Lee III (Star), great-grandchildren William, Keistyn, Raven, and Legend, sister Eura Moore, brother-in-law Phillip Pinkney and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and dear friends.
