Mrs. Ruth Celine Brown-Johns was born April 16, 1941 to Avis Brown, Sr. and Allean Parker Brown in Temple, Texas.
Ruth Celine graduated from Harris High School in 1959 as Valedictorian of Her class. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Prairie View University in May 1963.
She joined St. James United Methodist Church at an early age. Ruth Celine was a member of the United Methodist Women and served on the Planning Event Ministry.
While living in Denver, she was member of the St. Luke C.M.E. Church where she served as a member of the finance committee.
She taught in the Henderson Public Schools for five years. Ruth taught school in the Denver Public Schools for twenty-eight years.
Ruth Celine Brown- Johns was a member of the Denver Public Schools Retired Employees Association, Denver Classroom Teachers Association, Colorado Education Association, National Education Association, West Belton-Harris High Ex Students Association and the AARP.
Ruth Celine leaves to cherish her memories her three brothers: Avis Brown, Jr. (Mable), Floyd Brown, F. Edward Brown; two sisters: Carol Elliot (Squire Sr.), Elsie Brown-Randle; one nephew: Squire Elliot, Jr. (Aly); five nieces: Crystal Brown, Maya Elliot, April Jefferson (Ebony), Lela Randle-Wells (Anthony), Amy Randle; three great nephews: Avery Pennywell, Ellington Jefferson, Easton Jefferson; three great nieces: Annika Elliot, Sydney Elliot, Emma-Katherine Elliot, and a host of relatives and friends.
