Nettie Lee Mathis

September 11, 1950 — December 14, 2024

Bartlett

Nettie Lee Mathis was born on September 11, 1950, in Moody, Texas to Mary Martin and Pete Jones. She was also raised by Ollie Martin during her upbringing. She attended Merdith and Temple High Schools in Temple, Texas and graduated with Honors. Nettie married her husband Paul Mathis of 49 years on March 17th, 1975. She found the Lord at an early age, and the couple became members of Mount Ararat Missionary Baptist church under the leadership of Pastor Daniel Blane Sr.- Bartlett Texas. She loved her sports throughout her years: the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, San Antonio Spurs, and would go-to-bat for Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics.

She was employed by American Desk in Temple, Texas; “Intercraft Industries Company” in Taylor, Texas; and HeadStart in Bartlett, Texas. She later became a housewife that was devoted to her husband, children, and grandchildren throughout her life. Nettie loved the Lord and spending time with family and friends. Her hobbies were playing cards, dominos (using phrases as: “a set of twins,” “tennis shoes hurt my feet,” and “a piece of fish with no bread,”) bingo, and scratching her lottery tickets. Watching tennis 24/7, she loved to shout and cheer for the Williams sisters. Nettie would give her last to see that others had what they needed and see that everyone was happy.

“If I got it, you got it!”- Nettie

She was preceded in death by her parents: Ollie and Mary Martin as well as Pete Jones her biological father; her sister Patricia Ann Martin, her brothers: Lloyd Curtis Jackson Sr., Melvin Martin, Ollie James Martin and a gained, God-given son Dedrick Williams.

Along with a Host of Brother and Sister-in-Laws, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Friends and a Special Person that she denoted as her grandson Luke Walker. Her special friends Helen and Johnnie Williams, Ruthie Scott, Thelma Blane, Alice (Shirl) Anderson, Mary Banks, Janet Hill that were close to throughout her life.
