Maurice Dale James was born to Arthur Matthias James and Olga “Cindy” Melvina James on January 15, 1959.
He proclaimed his love for God at an early age at Zion Church in Belmont, Jamacia. As a child, he participated in the choir and all other church activities. As an adult, he was a member of several churches until the Lord led him to Greater Zion Temple Church of God in Christ. He was active in the men’s ministry, choir, and church ministries. Maurice was known for playing the guitar and singing of God’s love in Belton’s Male Chorus.
His formal education was provided by Mannings School in Savanal La Mar, Jamacia. He attended Culinary Arts School and was a professional Chef in Bermuda.
The love of his life after the Lord and Savior was Maxine Thompson, commonly referred to as Bev. They married on October 18, 1981. God blessed them with three children in Jamaica; Maurice Dale Sheldon, Maxine Antonette and Daliann Nardine, After relocating to America, the family increased once again with the arrival of Susan Albertha and Janice Lotoya.
Maurice was employed by Indeco Sales for many years. He established a lawn service as well “Maurice at your Service”. In2015 the open road enticed him and he became a long-distance trucker for CR England. The lonesome road compelled him to search for local trucking jobs. He began working for Mc Guire Transportation in June 2021.
Maurice openly shared with the family his acceptance of his call to ministry Thanksgiving of November 25th 2021. December 19th he officially entered the pulpit as a minister. He received the honor as a licensed minister in the Church of God in Christ Tuesday April 12th 2022 at 10:30 a.m.
Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Matthias James and Olga “Cindy” Melvina James.
He leaves to cherish his memories devoted and loving wife for forty years Maxine “Bev” James, son: Maurice Dale Sheldon James and daughters; Maxine, Daliann, Susan and Janice James; sisters: Sharon Mae James and Florence Jean Dryen of New York; brother: David Septimus James of Jamacia; grandsons: Joseph Garcia and Micah James; granddaughter Ashanti Yeboah and adopted parents Susan Elrod and Mike Anderson numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and church family.
