A Time to be Born:

Marquitia Pollion was born March 19, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois.  She was the third child born to the union of the late Andrew and Frances Pollion.

A Time to Plant:

Marquita was affectionately known as “Queen Latifah” by many friends. She was educated in the Chicago Public School System, attending Beethoven Elementary School and graduating from DuSable High School.

Marquita was baptized at Liberty Baptist Church (wearing red underwear)!  Years later she rededicated her life to Christ, and she and her children became active members of Salem Baptist Church of Chicago.

A Time to Love and Laugh:

Marquita possessed a warm and loving heart, not just for her four children, but also for the children in her family, neighborhood, and community.  She found her calling in working with children while employed at Avalon Elementary School as a Teacher’s Assistant.  Her skills did not go unnoticed, and she was later promoted to a Kindergarten teacher.   Her passion for learning inspired her to continue her education where she received a certification in Early Childhood Development.

Marquita could often be seen snapping her fingers as she grooved to music wherever she heard it playing.

A Time to Replant:

Marquita’s relationship with her older sister Rose blossomed when she moved to Temple, Texas in 2003. She acquired the distinctive title of “DIVA” from friends with her Love for fashion attire. Marquita united with the Corinth Missionary Baptist Church. She was a dedicated active member were attended Mission II, Vocational Bible School. She touched many lives with her compassionate heart, winning smile, and a personality you will never forget. She was employed by Temple Living Center West Nursing and Rehabilitation until her health declined.

A Time for Peace:

On March 1, 2024, a Host of Angels escorted her back to be in the presence of her Lord and Creator.

A Time to Mourn:

Her parents, brother Derrick Pollion and sister Heide Pollion, all preceded her in death.  She leaves to cherish her precious memory, her four children William  Pollion; Patrell Pollion; Lakia (Mark) Bryant; Louvenia Pollion Baileyel; four siblings: sister, Rose (Lee) Hilliard; brother, Guy Pollion; sister, Karen (Joseph) Pollion Johnson, and brother, Terrence Pollion; twelve grandchildren: Toryn Pollion, Tyren Bartholomew, Taia Bartholomew, Tyra Bartholomew, Janyla Allen, Lauren Pollion, Joshua Pollion, Markiya Bryant, Markeith Bryant Jr., Kynnadi Pollion, Dorrain Pollion, RuthAnna Williams and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, co-workers, and dear friends.
