Mrs, Marjorie Leverne Whitfield was born March 23, 1935, to the late Charlie Milligan and the late Fannie Jackson Milligan of Rosebud, Texas. She was the third child of four children who all preceded her in death, Charlie B. Taylor (sister), Fred Milligan (brother) and Johnny Milligan (brother).
In 1951, she was united in holy matrimony to Mr. R.J. Whitfield who preceded her in death. To this union, six children were born, R.J. Whitfield, Jr., Patricia Whitfield Johnson, Billy Whitfield (Erma), Kathryne Whitfield Ford, James Whitfield (Ashley) and Anthony Whitfield. Last, but certainly not least, John Johnson, Sr. who she always cherished as her son-in-law. We will forever re-play many priceless memories of having a good mother.
Mrs. Whitfield’s true love was being a mother and she often said that having children was her and joy. She was a housewife who enjoyed all the things that many people would consider daunting, such as cooking (which she did extremely well, especially fried chicken) and cleaning. She was a very independent and matter-of-fact person with a BIG heart and a GIVING heart.
Mrs. Whitfield was a member of Little Benjamin Church of God in Christ in Lott, Texas under Pastor Ozell Hall until her health no longer allowed her to attend. She was Saved and filled with the Holy Ghost at an early age.
Mrs. Whitfield leaves to cherish her memory: a niece, Bettye Taylor of Lubbock, Texas, three sister-in-laws, three brother-in-laws, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.
