Willie B. Brown and Mavis Pauline Richmond. Her birthplace and childhood home was Rogers, Texas.
Lillie attended Dunbar High School.
In 1981, Lillie was baptized into Christ. She remained a faithful member of Avenue G Church of Christ in Temple,
Texas, until her passing. Her faith was an important part of her life and was reflected in the way she loved, cared for,
and served others.
On March 28, 1981, Lillie married her beloved husband, Roy Lee Voice Sr. Together, they shared 44 years of
marriage, building a life filled with family, faith, love, and treasured memories.
Lillie was a hardworking woman who dedicated many years of her life to serving others. She worked as a cook at the
Veterans Affairs Hospital and retired after 25 years of service. She also worked as a cook for Belton Independent
School District and Temple Independent School District.
Her caring spirit extended beyond the kitchen. Lillie also worked as a caregiver with AccentCare Home Health,
Girling Home Health, and Heights Home Health, caring for others with the same compassion she showed to those
she loved.
Anyone who knew Lillie knew that she loved to cook. Feeding people was one of the ways she showed her love. She
cooked for her family, friends, church members, and anyone who was hungry. If you were hungry and Lillie had
food, you were going to eat.
She was especially known for her pound cakes, coconut cake, German chocolate cake, and, Lord, let us not forget her
cornbread dressing. Lillie didn't simply prepare food - she cooked with love. Every cake, every pan of dressing, and
every meal she placed on the table was another way of taking care of the people around her.
Lillie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, Roy Lee Voice Sr.; her parents, Larkin Willie B.
Brown and Mavis Pauline Richmond; her twin brother, Willie B. Brown; her brothers, Clarence Richmond and
Frederick Keith Richmond; and six aunts.
She leaves to cherish her memory five daughters: Brenda Colbert of Taylor, Texas; Kim Price (William) of
Nolanville, Texas; Annette Lopez (Francisco) of Hewitt, Texas; Cynthia Sims (Wilmington) of Hewitt, Texas; and
Belinda Ellis (Romel) of Pflugerville, Texas; three sons: Melvin (Gene) Hargrove of Temple, Texas; Roy Lee Voice
Jr. (Sonja) of Terrell, Texas; and Ronnie Voice of Round Rock, Texas; and one sister, Helen Dyson of Temple,
Texas.
She also leaves to cherish her memory her grandson, Roderick Colbert of Temple, Texas, whom she lovingly raised
as a son; 20 additional grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces,
nephews, cousins, extended family members, church family, and friends.
