Jatavious Antwon Holmes

JaTavious Antwon Holmes also known as “Jay23 or 23”, was born on March 10, 1990 in Waco,TX to parents Lasonda Dean Dials and Greggory Lamont Holmes. JaTavious attended Waco Independent School District until his freshman year and later moved to Midway High School. He was popular and the only guy walking around with a JayJay The Jet Plane backpack. While attending Midway High School Jay excelled in his studies and basketball. After graduating from Midway High School in 2008, JaTavious attended college on a Basketball Scholarship, keeping the name Jay23 that he earned in school! In 2011 JaTavious moved back to Waco to be closer to family and he continued playing in local basketball leagues.

Jay was told he would never have children, on July 10, 2016 God blessed JaTavious with his only son Kyng Amir Johnson-Holmes! Kyng was born the mirror image of his dad. From the Big Ole head to the lazy eye (laugh)! JaTavious loved his son more than anything even after his car accident all he wanted to do was get better for his son. Kyng’s photos covered his hospital room! Kyngs visit would have his dad smiling from ear to ear and his motivation to get better grew. Jay started to talk over his trach and even began to move his shoulders. When the days got tough Jay would listen to his music (gospel, rap and lets not forget Brittany Spears) and look at the pictures of he and Kyng. JaTavious you left some big shoes to fill! JaTavious never met a stranger! To know him was to love him! Jay was stingy, loving, kind, caring and willing to give you a hand while everyone else did the work!

JaTavious is preceded in death by his grandparents AB and Ida Holmes, Doris and Nathanial Childers, brother Andrel Gooden Jr., uncles Nathanial Childers, Kelvin Childers, Lafate Mims, and cousin Jamell Miller Jr.

JaTavious is survived by his mother LaSonda Dials, bonus dad Bobby Childers, Father Greggory (Shannon) Holmes, Granny Ruby (Minyard) Fowler. Sisters: Yasmine , Aalicia , JoeNeisha Childers, Demetra (Nathan) Hight, Destani Alexander, Brianna/ Arianna Armistead. Brother Dayoun Smith and Trevell Harden. Aunts; Utina (Jamell) Miller, Rattia (Stephen) Freeman, Valerie Childers, Tiffany (Boyd) Weaver, Dawn Childers. Uncles; Christopher (Pamela) Dials, Anthony (Debra) Dials, Lance Holmes, Tim Childers, Craig (Oticia) Childers. Cousins; A’Shawna, Sammy III, Willie, Michael, Andrew, Alvin, Demarcus, Rodrick, Glenn, Jessica, Kimberly, Cralynn, Craig Jr, Chavoun, Tatiana, Rattia, Christopher Jr, Amaya and a host of nieces and nephews.
