With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate the life of James Albert Keaton — a wonderful son, devoted brother, loving father, cherished uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and loyal friend. Known by many and loved by all, James leaves behind a legacy of faith, strength, laughter, and unwavering love for his family.
Born on March 19, 1948, to Albert and Celestine Keaton, James was raised with strong values and a firm foundation of faith. He received Christ at an early age, a decision that guided him throughout his life. His church home was Pleasant Olive Missionary Baptist Church, where he loved attending, serving on the culinary ministry, worshipping, and fellowshipping with his church family.
James was a hardworking and dedicated man who believed in providing for his family. He began his career at Leslie Chicken Shack and later worked at the local Owens-Illinois Glass Plant in Waco, Texas, where he faithfully served for over 30 years before retiring. His years at the glass plant reflected his loyalty, resilience, and strong work ethic. After retirement, he later returned to work at Coca-Cola, continuing to demonstrate his commitment and determination.
Beyond his work, James truly came alive when surrounded by family and friends. He loved spending time cooking for others, ensuring that no one ever left his presence hungry. He found excitement in drag racing, peace in fishing, and joy in simply spending time with good friends. In his younger days, motorcycle rides were among his favorite pastimes, embracing the open road with a spirit of freedom and adventure.
James was especially proud of his two daughters, Penny Bell of Waco, TX and Franchesca Banks of Dallas, TX who were the light of his life. He also leaves behind three beloved grandchildren Lanecia Robinson of Waco, Texas, Leondrae (Karmen) Robinson of Pensacola, Florida and Bryson Banks of Dallas, Texas along with one precious great-granddaughter, Jourdyn Campbell.
They brought him immense joy and pride.
He is survived by his loving siblings, Tommy Lee Keaton, Vickie Whitsey, and Wanda Keaton, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, special friend Wonder Slaughter and dear friends who will forever hold his memory close.
Though our hearts are saddened by his passing on February 27, 2026, we find comfort in knowing that his faith sustained him and that his love will continue to live on through each of us. James Albert Keaton’s life was a testament to devotion to God, to family, and to friendship. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever celebrated.
