James D Anderson

Service for James Douglas Anderson 70, of Temple will be 11:00 A.M.  Saturday January 16, 2021 at Don D. Summers Funeral Chapel in Temple, Texas.

Burial will be Tuesday January 19, 2021 at 9:00 A.M. at Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.

Our beloved brother, James Douglas Anderson, better known as “Torchie”, which all his friend called him was born on March 19, 1950, to Walter Anderson and Drucilla Bostick Anderson. James was the fifth child in a family of seven sisters and one brother. James came to know the Lord at an early age. We all said the Apostle Creed each Sunday, “I believe in God the Father Almighty the maker of heaven and earth and in Jesus Christ our Lord.”

While attending, Austin High School, he was an excellent basketball player and never wanted to lose. James attended Texas Southern University until he was drafted into the military where he served in the U.S. Army.  He was honorable discharged from the service due to having Malaria and was treated for it for two and a half years.  James was a very smart man and did well as an Insurance and Real Estate Agent. He was always full of positive energy; giving encouragement to whomever would receive it. James loved to make you laugh and made friends wherever he went. He attended Life with Christ Church and talked about and shared the good sermons he heard.

James was healed from many serious illnesses when doctors and nurses had given up on his recovery, he made it! He was a living testimony!

James entered into eternal rest on January 10, 2021. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Anderson and his mother Drucilla Anderson. He leaves to cherish his daughter Mariah Michelle McKee (Kevin), his son Elijah Anderson, his grandson Preston Bradley,  brother Walter Eugene Anderson, sisters Marian Russell, Claudia Ford, Barbara McMurray, Karen Riley, Priscilla Conner (Gary), Aquilla Anderson, Yolanda Anderson, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.

Viewing and Visitation will be Saturday January 16, 2021 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at Don D. Summers Funeral Chapel in Temple, Texas.
