Edward Alvin (Teddy) Mccoy

Edward Alvin McCoy is the only child born to Elder Joel McCoy and Dr. Elaine McCoy. He accepted the Lord at an early age and received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost at age 13. He was taught the drums by his mother from the age of four and began playing in church at age 7. He was active in all the church departments such as Sunday school, choir, 1 st COGIC step-team and anything else he could find to do. In high school, he began playing drums for other churches which included Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church (Temple, Texas), People’s Choice Holiness Church (Killeen, TX), and Gates of Dominion church in Austin, Texas.

He was taught the piano and organ by his mother at the age of 13. He started developing this gift when he was 21. His first job which included this gifting was when he began at People’s Choice Holiness Church. Here, he not only played drums but he was also the Youth Department Music Director for a year and a half. He then became the Music Pastor for A New Day Awakening Church for 3 years.

He then went to New Life Restoration Fellowship church in Round Rock, TX as a musician. He was able to hone his craft as a keyboardist for 3 years. He then went to Life’s Changers Fellowship church in Austin, TX where he was the Minister of Music. He was also made the Youth Pastor there. He was there for 2 years. He followed this church when it moved to Dallas, TX in 2014. He later went to Open Door Church in Dallas where he was Youth Pastor and Music Director for 2 years. He then went to Grace Community church in Lewisville, TX where he was Assistant Music Director, and Community & Outreach Coordinator. He was at Grace Community until his health began to deteriorate. He moved back to Temple, TX in July of 2018. On January 1, 2020 he went to Balanced Believer’s Ministries in Killeen, Texas. There he was the Director of Music and Media Department. He was there for a year and a half.

He graduated from Temple High School in 2004. He attended Austin Community College receiving a certificate in Pro Audio and Recording (2012). He attended Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas for Music Education. He graduated from The Institute for Teaching God’s Word Theological Seminary with a Bachelor’s of Science in Faith-Based Counseling in 2016. Since 2007 he was a music producer (Lawyer Turner, Kiki Perez and Christian Powell, etc.) and worked with various gospel artists. In addition he did percussion, church music and other music genres tutorials via Youtube. Teddy loved to share his talent and there are still some sounds on social media that will remain a witness to his talent and anointing.

Edward had been fighting for his life these past four years and God has been faithful. God miraculously raised him up time and time again. On Wednesday, December 14, 2022, God saw fit to let Edward transition into eternity.

He was married to April Larenda McCoy for seventeen years. They have one daughter, Tikariya Coan and three grandchildren: Ka’marri Coan, Azarria Coan and Brealon Coan. They had recently accepted guardianship of Tikariya’s brother, Iziah Jones, in October of 2022. Additionally, he leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Elaine McCoy, his father, Joel McCoy; his mother-in-law, Priscilla Brooks & father-in-law, Elder Melvin Fudge (Jeanette); a sister, Shaniqua Baker (Morrel) and a brother, Melvin Jorrail Fudge, III (Alexis); Two Uncles: James Bailey and Abie McCoy; A maternal grandmother, Ima Bailey; also of host of first, second and third cousins; many step-siblings, and a host of friends and love ones that space will not permit to enumerate.
