Mrs. Doris Martin Easter was born March 23, 1948 in Rosebud, Texas to the late Samuel Martin and Mary Scott Martin.
She was educated in the Temple Independent School District. She was a proud graduate of Dunbar High School, the Class of 1967.
Mrs. Easter accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at Bethel Independent Methodist Church. She later established her membership with Corinth Missionary Baptist Church where she was active in the Mission II Ministry. She was also an active member of Lincoln District Missionary Baptist Association Mission II Ministry, Congress of Christian Workers, and the Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas until her health failed.
She united in holy matrimony to Reverend Elbert Easter, Jr., the love of her life, in Temple, Texas and to this union one son was born.
Mrs. Easter worked for the Temple Independent School District in the Culinary Department, and retired after 30 years of service. She received an Honorary Award from the Temple Independent School District, and also an Award from the City of Temple Mayor.
She loved helping people and was very active in the community. Mrs. Easter was a member of the Eastern Star, NAACP, Bell County Retired Workers, and served as a volunteer for the Scott and White Hospital Summer Program.
Mrs. Easter departed this life on Monday, July 5, 2021, in Temple, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Mary Scott Martin; four brothers, Ollie, James, Samuel, and Clarence Martin; seven sisters, Mary Ann Hamilton, Sallie Aldridge, Loma Byars, Marie Mack, Pearlie Johnson, Georgia B. Wheeler, and Viola Moore.
She leaves to cherish her memories: a devoted husband, Reverend Elbert Easter, Jr., of Temple, TX; one son, Darren Easter (Sabrina) of Houston, TX; one brother, John Martin of Killeen, TX; two grandchildren, Raqeis R. Davis, and Devion Easter; one brother-in-law, James Graves of Oakland, TN and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
