Born on March 22, 1956 in Temple, Tx, to Carlos Sotero and Mary Garcia, Cynthia Joanne Tobar grew up with a spirit of faith, warmth, resilience, and kindness. She was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, Godmother, and great grandmother. She was called home to be with the Lord on September 4th, 2026 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas.
In 1970, she was married by the Justice of the Peace to the love of her life, John Tobar.
In 1991, they remarried through the church Our Lady of Guadalupe and together, they shared many wonderful years of marriage, building a home filled with laughter, traditions, and love in Temple, Texas. Cynthia was known for her devotion to her family, undying faith, unconditional love, and best of all her strength. She attended the Temple Christian Center for many years before her passing, to strengthen her relationship with God. She never missed an opportunity to be with her family, always had an open ear, and filled the lives of her grandchildren with her absolute presence, words of wisdom, laughter, and warm meals. She was happily employed at the Temple Living Center West with a passion for helping others. She was a proud homemaker, devout Christian, and an artist who dedicated her entire life to her growing family in the spirit of faith and goodwill. Her home was a safe haven to all, and her hugs were a comfort to all who knew her. She was the dignified and loving matriarch of her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents Carlos Sotero and Mary Garcia, and her siblings Julio Salas, Beni Santibanez, Sylvia Sotero, Johnny Felix Sotero, and Charlie Sotero.
She is survived by her loving husband, John Tobar, brother Antonio Sotero, children John Able Tobar, Patrick Tobar, Adam Tobar, Johnny Lee Tobar, Rachel Marie Tobar, her 19 grandchildren, her many great grandchildren, and many other relatives and dear friends.
