“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” — Psalm 91:1On July 11, 1944, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a beautiful baby girl was born to David Cooper and Jessie Mae Green. She was named Betty Louise Green and was the second of two children.She accepted Christ at an early age at Shiloh Baptist Church in Rosebud, Texas, and later joined Old Providence Baptist Church in Branchville, Texas.Betty attended school in Rosebud, Texas, at Wilson White High School, completing grades six through eleven in Branchville, Texas.At the age of 17, she met and married the late Curtis England, Sr., in Cameron, Texas. To this union nine children were born, with one preceding her in death.Betty was a stay-at-home mother and devoted her life to cooking, cleaning, and caring for her children.In her later years, she married Charles Evans and became a member of Harlem Chapel Baptist Church in Jones Prairie, Texas, where she served as First Lady for 32 years. Later, she and her husband, Rev. Charles Evans, were asked to lead Griffin Chapel Baptist Church in Griffin, Texas.Betty loved traveling out of town to visit family and grandchildren. She enjoyed garage sales, flowers, plants, and little knick-knacks. She also loved getting dressed up, being made up, and wearing pretty dresses.On Monday, December 29, 2025, the Lord called His angel home. At 81 years old, Betty lived to see generations before entering eternal rest at Scott & White Hospice Care in Temple, Texas, with her daughter by her side. Our love and memories will remain forever.She was preceded in death by her first husband, Curtis England; daughter Annette England; sons Eugene, Ronald, and Reginald England; grandson Marcellos DeRa England Johnson; grandmother Inez Wright; and mother Jessie Mae Green.She leaves to cherish her precious memories: daughter Jessie Mae Jump of College Station, Texas; sons Bennie England and Curtis England, Jr., both of Cameron, Texas; Jasper England of Waco, Texas; and Billy England of Fresno, California; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; sister Gloria Jean Wells of Houston, Texas; stepson John McIntyre of Rockdale, Texas; brother-in-law George Wells of Houston, Texas; daughters-in-law Evelyn England of Calvert, Texas, and Paula England of Cameron, Texas; sisters-in-law Priscilla Tridle of Cameron, Texas, and Christine Sterling of Bloomington, Texas.
