Annette was born on January 27, 1945 to Nathaniel and Lois Lewis in Temple, Texas. She was united in holy matrimony with John Wilson on March 24, 1966. John and Annette have two children, Kendra Lavette and Dexter Leray.
Annette graduated from Dunbar High School in 1963. She went on to pursue higher education in the field of Social Work receiving a Bachelor's Degree from Central Texas College and a Masters Degree from The University of Texas at Austin. She also pursued other interests and hobbies such as cake baking school, ceramics classes and secretarial and short-hand training.
Annette worked for the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System for 44 years. She worked as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. After her retirement, she spent her time volunteering at Baylor Scott and White Hospice, worshipping and serving in her local church, meeting and spending time with her prayer partners, cooking for family and friends, as well as spending quality time with her family and loved ones.
In 1975, Annette and her husband united with the Grace Temple Christ Holy Sanctified Church, where she fully surrendered her life to Christ and later received the baptism of the Holy Ghost! She served faithfully under the leadership of the late Bishop J.L. McBride Sr. and Bishop D.S. McBride. She worked in the areas of Hospitality, Pastor’s Aide, HYPBS, Sunday School, Christian Education, Prayer Ministry/Prayer Walking Teams, Culinary ministries and anything else she could find her hands to do. She simply loved God, and loved sharing her dynamic testimony of the faithfulness of God throughout her life!
Annette was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Laverne Brisco, Shirley Lewis and Christella Grant; and one brother, James “Boot” Lewis.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Elder John Wilson of Temple, TX; her daughter, Kendra Houston (Bobby Patterson) of Temple, TX; her son, Dexter Wilson of Temple, TX; her five grandchildren: Justin Houston (Antoinette) of Raleigh, NC; Jamelle Houston of Los Angeles, CA; Jasmine Houston of Houston, TX; Karisha Johnson of Temple, TX; Shanice Wilson of Round Rock, TX; her four great-grandchildren: Jaivon Houston, Jonovan Houston, Janya Houston and Josiah Johnson; two sisters, Melba Rogers of Temple, TX; Barbara Winn of Las Vegas, NV; one brother, Carl Lewis of Las Vegas, NV and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and beloved friends.
