Alton Jerome Moore

Alton Jerome Moore, “Junior”, was born on August 5, 1954 to his parents, Loyd Alton Moore and Vyree Genetta Moore in Temple, Texas. Alton accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age. He attended St. James United Methodist Church as a child. Alton attended Temple Public schools to include Wheatley Elementary, Travis Junior High, and Temple High School before joining the Marines in 1970.

Alton was a gifted singer and musician who loved the Lord and his family. He enjoyed sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ through song whether it be within a choir, a band, or during family gatherings you were guaranteed to hear him sing. Alton never missed an opportunity to spend time with his family, his children, his grandchildren, and close friends whom he loved dearly.

Alton departed this life on Sunday, October 3rd at the V.A Hospital in Temple, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Loyd Alton Moore, two sisters, grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

Left to cherish Alton’s memories are his mother, Vyree Moore of Temple, Texas, two children, Deon (Harisha) Moore of Pflugerville, Texas,  Michelle (Byron) Rhodes of Temple, Texas, and the mother of the children, Cecelia Williams of Temple, Texas. Two sisters, Loydetta Moore and Lesha Jackson, both of Temple, Texas. Three brothers, Larry (Shirley) Ray of Desoto, Texas, Ronnie Moore of Dallas, Texas. and Kenneth Moore of Temple, Texas. Five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and close friends.
